The Bonfire Radicals

"I LOVED THE BONFIRE RADICALS" Birmingham Post

The Bonfire Radicals unleash their uniquely liberated musical styles in contrasting sweet nuances with a carefully crafted raucousness.  Their eight individual personalities unite with spirit and zeal to create a harmonious hotchpotch of sound.

Breaking boundaries, consuming soup and defying gravity -
The Bonfire Radicals are a testament to the fact that Folk Music didn't die at The Free Trade Hall.

"there’s nothing high-falutin’ about the glorious mess of noise they make together!"  Birmingham Post

"their musical complicity and obvious enjoyment of each other’s company suggests there’s something raucous smouldering away beneath that wholesome facade"

The Summer Adventure Tour

We are really excited to be embarking on our first festival tour as a band! We kick of on Saturday the 5th at The Beltane Bash.

Hope to see you at a gig.

New Photos + Live Videos from ORT

Big thanks to everyone who squeezed in to ORT Cafe last weekend and made the gig a huge success. We had an absolute blast! We actually managed to fit around 70 audience members in which surely has to be a record for that small space.

We were lucky to have some fantastic photos taken of the night by Weinberg Photography, including this one of Ruth, Nancy and Michelle-

There was also a lot of photos of the audience taken which you can check out by clicking just here. See if you can spot yourself!

We had our old friend Gordon Dipple down on the night and he filmed the whole gig! We are releasing footage slowly but here are a couple to wet your appetite. 'Let's go Mental'!

21st of April- ORT Cafe w/Support from Katy Rose

We are really excited to beperforming at ORT Cafe in Birmingham. It has quickly become the new place to be seen in Brum and they run loads of cool events from exhibitions to philosophy discussions.

We will be joined by the extremely talented Katy Rose and her Cavalry Parade to open the show, AND it is our Nancy's birthday bash. Help her get older with a bang!

This gig will see the premiers of not one, not two, not three, but four new Bonfire Radical's tunes from our adventure to Shropshire!

Prepare for Progressive Balkan instrumentals, thrashy punk nursery rhymes, chilled Celtic nuances and an English summer wedding.

Join the Facebook event for more info by clicking here.

You can easily get to Ort by catching a number 50 bus from the City Centre or Kings Heath directions and getting off on Moseley Road opposite the Victorian Swimming Baths. The address is 500-506 Moseley Road, Birmingham, B12 9AH.

See you there- The Bonfire Radicals

P.S Here is a video of our last gig at Urban Fox Folk Club to wet your appetite for what is to come.

Shropshire Band Camp

We've spent the last few days away together rehearsing intently in deepest, darkest Broseley. Usually those who enter Broseley don't get to leave but thankfully we came out alive!

We really appreciated the time to relax and work on new material. We have perfected a couple of numbers that have been hibernating for a while which will be unveiled at our next gig!

For now here is a sneaky peak at our first jam session on a Liz Carroll tune called 'Princess Nancy'.

Hear it for real on the 21st of April at Ort.

SYMPHONY HALL!

Wow we've been asked to perform in the world renowned Symphony Hall in Birmingham. How amazing to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Herbie Hancock, Buena Vista Social Club and Simon Rattle! What's more the gig is free entry as it is Moseley Folk Festival's contribution to Artsfest. See you on the 10th of September 2011 at 4:30pm.
